Demetrious Johnson has announced that he is to undergo surgery on Friday, and will be laid low for two weeks.

The UFC flyweight title contender, who beat Ian McCall last weekend, has suffered a hernia that has forced him to go under the knife.

"I would love to fight tomorrow but I got a couple injuries coming into this fight. I went to the doctor today and I'll have to get a small procedure surgery on Friday," Johnson told Inside MMA.

"I suffered a hernia during the fight so I'll be out for maybe two weeks. We're hoping to get into surgery by Friday, get that taken care of and get my injuries out of the way, move forward in my career and get that strap around my waist."
