Ross Pearson has been chosen as the UK coach for The Ultimate Fighter: Australia vs UK, which has been dubbed "TUF: Smashes" in honour of the cricket rivalry between the two nations.

The second international edition of the reality show will begin filming shortly and Pearson will pit his wits against George Sotiropoulos.

Sotiropoulos has not fought since losing to Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC 132 last year, while Pearson lost to Cub Swanson in June, but UFC officials have confirmed the pair will meet at lightweight in the series finale.

UFC heavyweights Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson will be in opposite corners for the 16th season of The Ultimate Fighter.

"This is going to be a very interesting dynamic between these two heavyweights," UFC president Dana White said. "They both have huge punching power and great chins, but outside of the octagon, they couldn't be any more different.

"These two have been going at it on social media for a while and don't seem to like each other very much, but they are going to be seeing a lot of each other during this series."
