Hector Lombard will not be troubling Georges St-Pierre anytime soon, after the middleweight revealed he plans to stay at 185lbs.

Lombard produced one of the all-time great flops at UFC 149, failing to live up to the enormous hype as he dropped a split decision to Tim Boetsch. Defeat was only part of the problem, with Lombard's lacklustre style attracting most criticism.

Known for his explosive power, Lombard looked for the knockout only in short flurries against Boetsch, who was able to win despite breaking his foot in the first round.

The dire performance by Lombard screwed up president Dana White's plans so much that he scrapped his intention to announce a series of middleweight fights after the UFC 149 event. White also said Lombard would be best switching to 170lbs.

"Lombard maybe should fight at 170," White said. "He made 185 easily. He's short and wide, but I think he could make 170."

The likelihood is Lombard actually would struggle to get down to welterweight, but we are unlikely to find out in the near future. The former Bellator man insists he simply had a bad night on his UFC debut.

"I feel strong at 185," he tweeted. "Just because I had a bad fight does not mean that I am going to drop to 170."
