Nick Diaz slams Silva v Bonnar fight

Nick Diaz has lambasted the UFC's decision to pair Anderson Silva and Stephan Bonnar in the UFC 153 main event, labelling the fight "a joke".

UFC president Dana White recently told ESPN that Bonnar has the capability to shock the world on October 13, when he meets invincible middleweight champion Silva at light-heavyweight as one of the greatest underdogs in UFC history.

White pointed to the enormous size advantage Bonnar will have, as well as the fact he has never been knocked out. Bonnar backed his president up by claiming he will shock the globe.

However, Diaz isn't buying it. The welterweight himself had suggested he could fight Silva in a super-fight, and he thinks Bonnar's selection is crazy.

"If I was making a joke, like, 'Who are they gonna get to fight Anderson Silva, right now? Me or Stephan Bonnar?,' it would have been a big laughing matter," Diaz told MMA Uncensored Live.

"It's a joke. But, you know, that's what's happening at this point in time. So, that's fine.

"But if I was Anderson Silva, and I'm on my way out of this sport, at 37 or whatever, I'm looking to do a couple more fights, if that. I'd want to fulfil my legacy. I'm not gonna be able to do that with Stephan Bonnar. That's just the way I see it."
