Travis Browne could be out for up to four months after confirming he tore his hamstring during his defeat to Antonio Silva last weekend.

Browne suffered the injury early in the UFC on FX 5 headline bout in Minnesota and Silva took advantage to end the contest inside the first round.

The American said after the fight he suspected he had suffered major damage to his left hamstring after his first kick, and after medical examination on Monday Browne confirmed the news.

"They said I tore my hamstring, I'll be out for 2-4 months," Browne tweeted. "Luckily no surgery. Thank you again for your support. I'll be back stronger!"
