Jon Jones considering Chael Sonnen fight

Jon Jones has performed a startling U-turn, revealing he may be willing to fight Chael Sonnen after all.

Jones earned the wrath of the MMA community when, having had a full training camp for Dan Henderson, he turned down a fight with Sonnen on eight days' notice after Henderson had to withdraw. His decision led to the cancellation of the entire UFC 151 card.

The UFC light-heavyweight champion cited several reasons at the time, one of which was that he did not think Sonnen deserved a shot. The middleweight is coming off a failed title shot against Anderson Silva and is 6-5 in the UFC.

Jones also said he did not want to give a jackpot chance to somebody of Sonnen's morals, but now he appears to be changing his mind.

"The more I realise how bad the fans want me to fight Sonnen the more I am beginning to disregard whether he deserves it or not," Jones tweeted.

"A part of me wants to do it for the fans, the other part of me feels as if it delegitimizes the importance of [a] championship."

Sonnen is currently heading for a 205lb bout with Forrest Griffin on December 29, and he responded to Jones by tweeting: "You don't GIVE. I TAKE. Remember that Bonesie-Boy."
