Daniel Cormier has responded to Jon Jones' claim that the Strikeforce man is not a big enough name to rival him in a TUF series, and he wants to beat Frank Mir to change that situation.

Cormier recently threw out the idea that he could coach in opposition to Jones in order to improve his reputation among UFC fans. He also promised that he would provide the type of challenge Jones is yet to encounter.

However, Jones told ESPN that he was not interested, saying: "He would want that wouldn't he? He's relatively unknown, I want to do it when the fans are aware of both guys, and when it's spunky and when it raises a lot of viewers. I'm not here to raise his stock."

Cormier has since responded on Twitter, saying: "I guess I need to win a few fights and get some fans. Can anyone help me out?"

Top of his list is former UFC heavyweight champ Frank Mir, who was supposed to fight Cormier in November. Mir had to withdraw due to injury, but Cormier still wants the fight in January.

"I don't have an opponent," Cormier told Inside MMA. "But with the two-month delay, hopefully Frank Mir is healed up and ready to go.

"I haven't been told I'm fighting for sure, but if they're promising a stacked card, I'm hoping I'm one of the guys they look at and you put on the card and it becomes a little bit better."
