Belfort: Nothing confirmed for Bisping fight

Vitor Belfort and Michael Bisping have both been linked to a middleweight fight this week, but neither fighter appears to be adding any substance to the story.

Bisping has been left a little hamstrung in the middleweight division, with champion Anderson Silva seemingly heading for Georges St-Pierre, while top contenders Chris Weidman and Tim Boetsch are fighting each other at the end of the year.

The Brit, undoubtedly a top-five middleweight, is currently without an opponent - with a further fight option, Alan Belcher, also booked for a bout elsewhere - so Bisping's name has been linked to Belfort in recent times.

Belfort is coming off his spirited loss to light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones and will surely drop back into the 185lb ocean. A fight with Bisping makes plenty of sense, but Belfort knows little of it.

"I don't have anything confirmed about fighting Bisping. It's all rumours. When I know about it will let you guys know," he wrote on Twitter.

Bisping was also asked about the story on the social media tool - responding "Where you hear that?" - so now the focus is on the UFC to show its hand.
