Rory MacDonald believes his next opponent after BJ Penn might be Nick Diaz, but for now he is only focusing on "beating BJ's ass".

Diaz has long been linked to a fight with Georges St-Pierre, who trains at the Tristar Gym alongside MacDonald. The gym has, on occasion, attracted trash talk from Diaz.

Asked during Friday's Q&A if Diaz had become a target at Tristar, MacDonald rejected the theory but did express a desire to fight him in the near future.

"I don't think he's a target. People talk, that's the fight game," MacDonald said.

"I'd fight Nick. I might be ready to fight in March. He might be my next fight. I'd love to fight him."

First up for MacDonald is Penn in December, and the Canadian is not entirely impressed with Penn's insistence that he take random drug tests ahead of their showdown. MacDonald is passing those tests, and he is ready to show Penn he is a natural athlete.

"He's got a lot of excuses, he likes to start sh*t. He asked me to do the VADA testing and I accepted. My first results were obviously negative. I'll prove I'm a clean fighter.

"He can say whatever he wants to say, I'll still beat his ass."
