Diego Sanchez expects fight with Takanori Gomi

Diego Sanchez appears to be heading for a lightweight clash with Takanori Gomi after he tweeted about the potential bout on Friday.

Sanchez is set to move to the 155lb division following a unanimous decision loss to Jake Ellenberger. The Nightmare previously earned a title shot at lightweight, losing to BJ Penn.

He has been sidelined recently by shoulder surgery but expects to return at the start of 2013. The UFC heads to Japan on March 3, and Sanchez seems to think he will be on the card.

"Might have a fight lined up for March 2nd," he wrote on Twitter. "Just waiting on the man Joe Silva to see if Mr Fireball Kid takes it?"

Takanori Gomi, the Fireball Kid, is coming off an impressive win over Mac Danzig in his last outing.
