John Hathaway has uncharacteristically called out Matt Riddle as his potential next opponent, sending a tweet to Dana White to ask for the fight.

Hathaway is coming off a win over John Maguire in Nottingham, and Riddle's last outing also saw him beat Maguire at the recent UFC 154 event in Montreal.

After that victory the American called out Dan Hardy for a second time, having earlier expressed his dislike of Brits. Riddle claims a British fan once spat at him in Manchester.

Hathaway never usually gets involved in the business of calling out opponents but, with Riddle unlikely to get his wish to fight Hardy, he wants to be the Brit that steps up to hand his US counterpart a lesson.

Hathaway's next tweet was aimed directly at president Dana White.

Hathaway's MMA record currently stands at 17-1, and he is on a three-fight win streak. Riddle is 7-3 with one no-contest, and is unbeaten in his last three.
