Ronda Rousey has been handed her first fight in the UFC, and it will be a headline fight at UFC 157 in California.

Rousey was present for the UFC on Fox 5 pre-fight press conference on Thursday, where she was officially instated as the UFC bantamweight champion of the female division.

It was then confirmed that Rousey will fight Liz Carmouche on February 23, in the main event of UFC 157. The card takes place at the Honda Centre.

President Dana White claimed Carmouche was the only rival willing to fight Rousey, who had been expected to face Cristiane Santos. Rousey said the clash with Cyborg will happen down the line.

The bout will mark a moment of history for the UFC, which has never shown a female fight, let alone made it a main event.
