Carlos Condit admits he is slightly baffled by Rory MacDonald's feeling of "humiliation" following their first encounter, labelling the Canadian youngster "a little bit odd".

MacDonald is obsessed with the need to avenge his only career loss, suffered to Condit at UFC 115 in 2010. Defeat came seven seconds from the bell, with MacDonald arguably on course for a decision victory prior to the stoppage.

He recently told ESPN that he felt "embarrassed" and "humiliated" by the loss, and opted to call out Condit for a rematch following his win over BJ Penn. That sequel will take place at UFC 158 in March.

Condit, to his credit, has taken on something of a no-win fight - given the fact that he has already beaten the man tipped for greatness, and he revealed he does not understand why MacDonald beats himself up so badly over one defeat.

"I think the whole thing, the tone of it, made it seem like I had wronged him, like I did something wrong," Condit told MMA Junkie.

"I was just doing what the hell I'm supposed to do.

"I think it's probably the way that he lost. He was undefeated at that point. He was the man, the next big thing. I think he thinks it's his destiny to be the champion, and I went in there and smashed that dream.

"So I can see it. But it's a little bit odd, I think."
