White set to hand Anderson Silva ten-fight deal

UFC president Dana White has confirmed he will offer Anderson Silva a ten-fight UFC contract, after the brilliant Brazilian refused to settle for eight.

Silva, widely recognised as the best fighter on the planet, has often speculated over his future, at times saying he will fight for another decade while, at others, claiming he might pursue opportunities outside the Octagon.

However, at 38 years of age he has made clear his wish to pen a new ten-fight deal that would see him fight for another three or four years.

"He'll sign a ten-fight deal," White said at UFC 155. "I don't think we've ever done a ten-fight deal. Maybe we've done something with Forrest [Griffin] or something like that.

"But Anderson said. 'I want a ten-fight deal, not an eight-fight deal'. I'll give him a 100-fight deal [if he wants].

"Ten more fights realistically is three years. The guy's 38 but he doesn't look it."

Silva is yet to officially sign the new contract, but White's revelation confirms the Brazilian is intent on extending his dominance at 185lbs. Silva has won all 16 of his UFC bouts and has been linked to future superfights with Georges St-Pierre and Jon Jones.
