Vitor Belfort has admitted he was wrong not to reveal publicly that he was using testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) in the lead-up to his fight with Michael Bisping last month.

Belfort claimed a knockout win over Bisping at UFC on FX 7, after which it was revealed Belfort had been given a therapeutic use exemption (TUE) to bolster his testosterone levels using TRT.

The news caused widespread debate, with Bisping being particularly outspoken by claiming Belfort is "a f*****g cheat."

Belfort is expected to be on TRT for his fight with Luke Rockhold in May and although admitting he was wrong not to make it public prior to his fight with Bisping, he feels people need to stop making such an issue of it.

"This will be last time that I will talk about TRT," Belfort is quoted as saying on MMAMania. "I never hid from UFC that I was on the treatment but I admit that I didn't admit to the press. I confess that this was my mistake.

"I am man enough to admit my mistakes. So from now on, guys please don't fight me if you are going to use this as an excuse. That's it. I never lie and never hide from UFC."
