Rory MacDonald is out of his UFC 158 encounter with Carlos Condit due to injury, it emerged overnight on Monday.

Details of the injury were not immediately available, but MMA Fighting reports that multiple sources close to the welterweight have confirmed his withdrawal.

Condit is still expected to fight on the March 16 card, although no new opponent has yet been named. Both Demian Maia and Tyron Woodley would seem likely contenders, given that it is a bout of co-main event status.

MacDonald had been eyeing revenge against Condit, who inflicted his only career defeat. The youngster told ESPN he felt "humiliated" by the loss.

He was coming off an impressive win over BJ Penn, while Condit is hoping to bounce back after a title defeat to champion Georges St-Pierre.

UFC 158 is a major night for the welterweight division, with St-Pierre headlining the event against Nick Diaz. Also on the card, top contenders Johny Hendricks and Jake Ellenberger square off.
