Bisping allays surgery fear, ready to KO Belcher

Michael Bisping has allayed fears over his April 27 bout with Alan Belcher, revealing he will need - at most - only a minor procedure to correct a nerve problem in his neck.

ESPN reported news of Bisping's fitness concern after a recent meet-up in London, with the Brit revealing his right arm was being weakened due to a trapped nerve.

Bisping confessed that in an ideal world he would take six months off to get his body 100 per cent fit, explaining that the nerve problem was causing atrophy, a condition that sees the wasting away of muscle tissue.

However, the middleweight title-chaser never once said his bout with Belcher was at risk - as has been reported elsewhere - and after seeing a specialist on Tuesday Bisping assured fans he will be in better shape than ever for his next bout.

"Just to clarify, I am not having surgery, my fight with Belcher is NOT in peril," Bisping tweeted on Thursday. "I'm having a minor procedure, maybe, to fix an old problem.

"All this treatment means is I will be going into this fight more prepared than usual and ready to knock Belcher out on April 27th. Enjoy."

Bisping is more hungry than ever to work his way back to a title shot after losing to Vitor Belfort, and is taking significant steps to shake up preparations. His decision to correct the nerve problem is one of many steps the Brit is taking towards becoming a more professional and complete fighter.
