Chris Weidman has been given the green light to train again following the announcement of his UFC 162 middleweight title shot against champion Anderson Silva this July.

Weidman, unbeaten in five UFC contests and nine MMA fights, has confirmed he was giving the all clear to train again following a shoulder injury he suffered in preparation for his fight with Tim Boetsch a few months ago.

"I just spoke to my doctor on Tuesday, and he just said he was very happy at where my shoulder was at, and that he was surprised at how fast it healed," Weidman said.

"So I'm back into the thick of things and, honestly, my shoulder feels 100% right now. It feels great."

The aggressive grapple-style fighter is intent on preparing fully for his title fight with Silva, confirmed for the July 6 card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

"Everybody's excited for me, and I'm getting blown up like crazy," the Long Island native told ESPN.com.

"But it's time to get organised and time to get working. I didn't get this title shot just to be happy with that. I got this title shot to win and win in spectacular fashion, and that's what I'm going to do."
