Longtime UFC heavyweight Cheick Kongo has finished the last fight of his contract and has not been re-signed based on recent performances, according to a UFC official.

The UFC has removed Kongo's profile from its website, although it has yet to make an official statement on the 37-year-old fighter (18-8-2).

Kongo recently suffered a first-round knockout loss to Roy Nelson at UFC 159 in Newark. He made his UFC debut in July 2006 and holds an 11-5-1 record in the Octagon.

The French heavyweight had won three of his past four fights heading into the Nelson bout but failed to look spectacular in doing so. He suffered a first-round KO loss to Mark Hunt at UFC 144 in February 2012.

Kongo's professional career dates back to June 2001, and he's competed against Frank Mir, Cain Velasquez and Mirko Filipovic. His management offered no hint whether he would sign elsewhere.
