Former UFC fighter Matt Riddle has announced his retirement because a lack of fight opportunities means he cannot afford to continue as a professional.

Riddle's career was marred by failed drugs tests for marijuana, the second of which led to him being released from the promotion.

He was subsequently signed by Texas based promotion Legacy Fighting Championships but he never fought for them as he was sidelined by a rib injury.

"They can't find me a fight till the next tournament and I can't afford not fighting that long and need a job" he said. "Sorry if I let anyone down but it isn't paying the bills."
