UFC officials announced two fights for separate televised events in January, but one of them has already fallen through.

Heavyweights Gabriel Gonzaga and Stipe Miocic have agreed to meet on a UFC on Fox card January 25 in Chicago. Also, a light-heavyweight contest between Thiago Silva and Ovince St Preux was added to UFC Fight Night 35 in Duluth on January 15 before Silva pulled out of the fight on Thursday night. No reason was given.

Gonzaga (16-7) has revitalised his career since returning from a brief retirement in 2012. He's fought four times in the Octagon in 2013, compiling a 3-1 record. The 34-year-old is coming off a first-round knockout over Shawn Jordan in October.

Miocic (10-1) scored the biggest win of his career in his last performance, outpointing Roy Nelson via unanimous decision at UFC 161 in June. A former collegiate wrestler at Cleveland State, Miocic is 4-1 in the UFC.

A lightweight contest between former champion Ben Henderson and Josh Thomson is scheduled to headline the January 25 event at United Centre.

A middleweight bout between Luke Rockhold and Constantinos Philippou will serve as the main event for UFC Fight Night 35. The card takes place at the Arena at Gwinnett Centre.
