The possibility of staging two UFC events on the same date, an idea company president Dana White has long hinted at, will become a reality this spring.

Officials announced this week a UFC Fight Night event will take place in Berlin on May 31. In February, the grudge match between Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva was announced for that date in Brazil.

Main event and broadcasting details have yet to be announced for the Berlin card. It will mark the UFC's first trip to Germany since November 2010 and first to the country's capital.

"We are incredibly excited to announce this event and it is fantastic news for the many UFC fans throughout Germany and the rest of Europe," said Garry Cook, UFC EMEA executive vice president and managing director. "Germany is one of the leading world superpowers in sport and to be able to host a UFC Fight Night to our passionate German fans will be an honour."

The Berlin event is part of the UFC's 'European Tour', a concept the promotion kicked off in 2014. The international cards feature local start times, as opposed to schedules with the North American audience in mind.
