A light heavyweight title bout between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 178 will take place in Las Vegas on September 27.

UFC officials had previously announced the title fight's date, but multiple host cities had been in consideration including Las Vegas, Toronto and Stockholm, Sweden.

UFC president Dana White and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta made the official announcement of the location on UFC Tonight.

Jones (20-1) will seek his eighth consecutive title defence. The 26-year-old already holds the record for most consecutive defences at 205 pounds and is three away from tying former middleweight champion Anderson Silva for most all-time.

Gustafsson (16-2) is 8-2 overall in the UFC, with six finishes. The Swedish fighter is coming off a second-round TKO against Jimi Manuwa in March.

The fight is a rematch of a 2013 fight of the year candidate. Jones defeated Gustafsson via unanimous decision at UFC 165 last September in what was his toughest title defence to date.

Meanwhile, a rematch between newly crowned UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw and Renan Barao, the man he took the title from, will headline UFC 177 on August 30.

The pay-per-view event, which previously was expected to take place in Las Vegas, has moved to Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento.

Dillashaw (10-2) claimed the 135-pound title in shocking fashion at UFC 173 in May. The 28-year-old knocked Barao down in the first round and eventually went on to finish the fight via TKO in the fifth.

A member of Team Alpha Male, Dillashaw is 6-2 in the UFC. His most recent loss came via split decision to Raphael Assuncao in October. That fight took place in Brazil.

Prior to UFC 173, Barao (32-2) had not suffered a professional loss since April 2005. The Brazilian bantamweight is 7-1 in the UFC, including finishes over Urijah Faber, Eddie Wineland and Michael McDonald.
