Paul Kelly could be heading for disappointment in October after it was revealed that he does not currently feature in plans for UFC 120 in London.

Kelly has been a fixture on European UFC cards in recent years, fighting at UFC 80, UFC 89 and UFC 105 in England, in addition to UFC 99 in Germany.

The Team Kaobon fighter is preparing for a clash with Jacob Volkmann on August 1 in San Diego, a bout that could see Kelly propelled to main-card status should he complete a fourth victory in five fights. The Liverpudlian does not care about whether he is on the main card or the prelims, but he had hoped to force his way into Joe Silva's plans for UFC 120.

"That's the plan that I believe Joe [Silva] and Dana [White] have got in mind. I get a big following from Liverpool, and they know they're guaranteed a fight with me," Kelly told ESPN.co.uk.

"I'd sooner lose than have a rubbish fight. All we are as fighters is entertainment for the crowd. In the past, we got locked in a cage and it wasn't about the winner's cheque. It was entertainment. I'd sooner lose than lie on the mat doing nothing for three rounds."

It is that never-say-die attitude that has won Kelly plenty of support in the past, but UK MMA fans may miss out on seeing one of their favourite fighters in London.

"On the current sheet that I've seen, Paul Kelly is not listed. However, there are some blank spots," UFC UK president Marshall Zelaznik told ESPN.co.uk.

"Right now he's not on the sheet, but Joe can be very intuitive about these kinds of things, and I suppose if Paul comes through unscathed there's a chance he could be on the card. He brings a great of army fans."
