Sonnen/Dos Santos suspended longer than Silva/Nelson

Chael Sonnen and Junior Dos Santos both received heavier medical suspensions than Anderson Silva and Roy Nelson, despite handing out more punishment to their respective opponents at UFC 117.
Silva spent four and a half rounds beneath Sonnen in California, receiving relentless - if not always damaging - ground and pound as Sonnen sat in his guard. The UFC middleweight champion faces a lengthy lay-off into next year due to a suspected fractured rib picked up in training, but the damage dealt out by Sonnen only warrants a 45-day suspension, with 30 days of no contact.
Sonnen meanwhile, who was dropped in the fourth round by a short elbow by Silva, suffered a facial laceration when eating several elbows delivered whilst Silva was on his back. As a consequence, Sonnen receives a 60-day suspension with 60 days of no contact.
Meanwhile, Roy Nelson emerged from a three-round beating against Junior Dos Santos with only a 45-day suspension for precautionary reasons. Dos Santos, who suffered a cut after a booming right hand from Nelson, faces a 60-day suspension due to a cheek laceration.
Elsewhere, Rafael Dos Anjos is suspended for six months due to a broken jaw, Phil Davis faces 180 days on the sidelines for a suspected fractured finger, Tim Boetsch receives a similar order for a possible fractured thumb, and Christian Morecraft will also spend 180 days on the sidelines after being knocked out by Stefan Struve.
