Jon Fitch has promised BJ Penn he will feel like he has been through a meat grinder after the pair clash at UFC 127 in Sydney.

Fitch has developed a hugely distinctive style during his five years in the UFC's welterweight division, using his relentless wrestling base to put his opponents on the mat, before going to work with his ground-and-pound for three rounds in order to earn the decision.

Only four of Fitch's 14 UFC bouts have ended inside the 15-minute parameters and, having seen Penn overwhelmed on his back by Georges St-Pierre at UFC 94, it is unlikely Fitch's tactics will change come February 26.

"I'm gonna beat BJ, the question is can I finish BJ?" said Fitch. "I want to become a legend, and the only way to be a legend is to beat a legend. BJ is definitely a legend.

"I can't just rely on being stronger than him and expect to push him around the ring. It's gonna be non-stop action. I'm constantly going to be moving forward, constantly throwing punches, throwing elbows... I literally want to make my opponent feel like I've put them through a meat grinder."

Contemplating a second shot at the welterweight title, a determined Fitch commented: "I'm just entering my prime, and I want to keep my prime for another five to 10 years. The sky's the limit for me."
