Michael Bisping could be hit by the double blow of a fine and suspension, according to ESPN reporter Franklin McNeill.

Bisping is yet to learn what action the UFC will take after he allegedly spat in the direction of Jorge Rivera's coach, Matt Phinney, at UFC 127. President Dana White has confirmed Bisping is "in trouble", but no further comment has been made.

The Wolf's Lair camp, home of Bisping, issued a lengthy statement on Tuesday citing Phinney as the "catalyst" for the unsavoury incidents at UFC 127, incidents that have drawn multiple apologies from Bisping himself. However, McNeill believes that will not save him from severe action.

"According to numerous reports, UFC president Dana White is considering suspending and fining middleweight Michael Bisping for the fighter's conduct on Saturday night at UFC 127," McNeill told ESPN's MMA Live Extra.

"Whatever punishment Bisping receives is for the good of the sport and the promotion. Fighters have been suspended before, and some have even been banned from the promotion.

"Unacceptable behaviour is unacceptable in any professional sporting activity. Michael Bisping must get this message."
