Jardine fights Mousasi, despite Kongo's April Fool's joke

Former UFC veteran Keith Jardine will replace Mike Kyle as Gegard Mousasi's opponent at Strikeforce: Diaz v Daley on April 9.

Kyle was forced to pull out of the light-heavyweight clash due to a broken hand, leaving Strikeforce little time to find a back-up opponent.

UFC heavyweight Cheick Kongo initially fooled certain sections of the media by claiming he would take the bout, but he later posted the message: "Happy April Fool's Day, guys! April Fool's joke guys!! Of course I [and] Mousasi did not fight! I am a heavyweight. Next fight [Pat] Barry in the UFC on Versus 4, June 26, 2011!"

Jardine was confirmed as the actual opponent during Friday's broadcast of the Strikeforce Challengers card, which saw Justin Wilcox beat Rodrigo Damm in the main event.

The Dean of Mean holds wins over the likes of Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffin and is currently on a two-fight win streak, but he faces a stiff task against the DREAM light-heavyweight champion.
