Fedor Emelianenko is expected to complete an agreement to fight Dan Henderson this week, according to management team M-1 Global.

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker confirmed over the weekend that he expects Emelianenko to meet Henderson during the summer, stating: "We're going to keep pushing and hopefully have something to announce in the next two weeks or so."

Now M-1 Global's Apy Echteld has spoken exclusively to ESPN, revealing the legendary Russian fighter is up for the fight.

That is big news in terms of reaching an agreement, because Coker had previously revealed that Emelianenko was reluctant to come down from heavyweight to the 205lb division.

"He agreed. He's ready to fight," Echteld told ESPN.

The Last Emperor has lost his last two, taking a battering from Antonio Silva last time out, but Echteld insists he will return to his best against Henderson.

"With his progress from training, I can only think he'll be back the way he was," Echteld said of the former Pride champion. "If he doesn't win, he'll make his own decisions like he does now. If he stops, he stops. But if he wins, I think he'll continue fighting."
