Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz has agreed to fight Jeff Lacy in a boxing match in autumn 2011.

Former IBF super-middleweight champion Lacy, who carries a 25-4 (17KOs) boxing record, was last in the ring five months ago, losing a unanimous decision to Dhafir Smith.

He has tasted defeat in four of his last eight encounters, which have included unsuccessful attempts to get the better of Joe Calzaghe and Roy Jones Jnr.

Diaz, by contrast, has seen his reputation soar of late after compiling an 11-fight win streak. His achievements have seen a super-fight against George St. Pierre mooted - although that contest will now have to wait.

Due to the nature of Diaz's Strikeforce contract, he is able to pursue a professional boxing career on top of his MMA commitments.
