Jim Miller has been handed an ideal opportunity to propel himself towards a title shot, after it emerged that the lightweight will take on former WEC champion Ben Henderson.

Miller is on a staggering run of form in the 155lb division, winning 15 of his last 16 fights. The one defeat came via unanimous decision to current No. 1 contender Gray Maynard.

The American has been calling for a title shot for a while, but his most recent opponent was Kamal Shalorus, who did not carry the reputation required to bolster Miller's championship credentials.

Possessing an exceptional wrestling base and increasingly dangerous hands, Miller is hugely respected in MMA circles, and now he will get the chance to take his career to another level against Henderson - himself in pursuit of a title shot.

Henderson beat Mark Bocek in his UFC debut, and only Anthony Pettis has beaten him in his 12 previous fights.

Asbury Park Press first reported the bout, which is expected to take place at UFC on Versus 5 on August 14 in Milwaukee.
