Pirelli is "fully ready" for the challenge of the Circuit of the Americas despite the circuit for the United States Grand Prix having yet to open.

The race in Austin takes place in four week's time, meaning Pirelli has had to name its tyre compound choices before the track has opened. It's a similar situation to the Indian Grand Prix last year, however, and motorsport director Paul Hembery says Pirelli has no major concerns having been able to simulate the track characteristics.

"There's no doubt that preparing for a circuit that is completely new is more difficult than going to one of the established venues," Hembery said. "However, we now feel fully ready for this magnificent track, where we will bring the P Zero Silver hard and P Zero White medium tyres.

"The technology and know-how that we have at our disposal means that we can forecast some very accurate predictions without actually having raced at a circuit these days, thanks to the preparation work from our engineers."
