Three years separated Ellison's first All Blacks cap against Italy and his second against Ireland in 2012. The talented utility back plays his Super Rugby for the Highlanders following stints with the Blues and Hurricanes.
Ellison is the grandson of All Black Vince Bevan, who played six tests for New Zealand in 1949 and 1950, and the brother of Jacob, who plays for the Hurricanes. He is also a descendent of Thomas Rangiwahia Ellison, captain of New Zealand's first official rugby team in 1893.
