1998
Australia condemned New Zealand to their worst run of Test results in 50 years with a 27-23 victory in their Tri-Nations clash in Christchurch. The Wallabies had already got the better of their cross-Tasman rivals in the Tri-Nations opener in Melbourne before the All Blacks suffered a shock defeat to the Springboks in Wellington. As a result John Hart's side were under huge pressure entering the Jade Stadium clash where tries from Christian Cullen and Jonah Lomu offered the home fans hope but the Wallabies proved too good with Tom Bowman, Matt Burke, Stephen Larkham, Jason Little all scoring to seal a famous Bledisloe Cup triumph. The All Blacks went on to finish bottom of the Tri-Nations log, losing their final match to the tournament winners South Africa two weeks later in Durban.

2009
Morne Steyn produced a record-breaking display to power the Springboks to a 31-19 victory over New Zealand in Durban. The fly-half scored all of his side's points at Kings Park and eclipsed the Tri-Nations record for most points in a game, 29, set by New Zealand's Andrew Mehrtens against Australia in 1999. On a day that saw Springbok skipper John Smit become the most-capped captain of all time and 50th Tests for Jean de Villiers and Bryan Habana, Steyn upstaged them all by relentlessly punishing a ragged and ill-disciplined All Blacks side. The Blue Bulls pivot finished with a try, conversion and eight penalties - seeing his shot at a full-house disappear when a second-half drop-goal cannoned off an upright.

1953
John Solomon's Wallabies gave one of the best displays of their tour of South Africa, beating Eastern Province 16-11 at the Crusader Ground in Port Elizabeth.

1959
Two tries by Pontypool centre Malcolm Price helped Ronnie Dawson's Lions to a convincing 21-6 triumph over Wellington at Athletic Park.

1961
French morale ahead of their upcoming Test in New Zealand was given a timely boost with a confident 21-6 tour win against Manawatu at Palmerston North.

1970
Brian Lochore's All Blacks thumped Eastern Province 49-8 in Port Elizabeth, running in nine tries. Full-back Fergi McCormick is in fine fettle with the boot, landing five conversions and adding three penalty goals.

1981
Fly-half Naas Botha landed six successful kicks to steer South Africa to a 31-19 win against Manawatu at Palmerston North in the 'Boks third win in three outings on tour in New Zealand.
