1999
A then world record attendance of 107,042 in Stadium Australia saw Australia rout the All Blacks 28-7 in the last Tri Nations Test of the year.

The All Blacks had already claimed the title ahead of that autumn's Rugby World Cup in Wales, which was famously won by John Eales and the Wallabies.

In Sydney, Matt Burke weighed in with seven penalties to ensure victory for the men in gold after lock Mark Connors had scored their only try. Andrew Mehrtens converted his own try for the All Blacks' only points.

1949
France trod new ground, becoming the first of the Five Nations to play an official Test in Argentina.

Guy Basquet's side struggled to a 5-0 win, prop Lucien Caron's try converted by flanker Jean Prat.

1937
For the second successive tour match all four Springbok three-quarters scored tries (seven of the ten registered) as the South Africans beat South Canterbury 43-6 at Timaru in their last match before the second Test against New Zealand.

1965
A large crowd watched the Springboks win 9-3 after a scoreless first half in a thrilling match against the New Zealand Maori in Wellington.

1971
The Oxbridge tourists lost the first "Test" of their tour of Argentina, beaten 11-3 by the Pumas in Buenos Aires.

1978
Daryl Haberecht, the Wallabies coach, suffered a heart-attack during the tour of New Zealand and is rushed to hospital. Former All Black coach JJ Stewart stepped in to prepare the tourists for their upcoming game with Wanganui.
