  • Scarlets flanker Dafydd Jones will miss Wales' remaining autumn Tests after suffering a serious shoulder injury.

Jones, 30, was due to undergo surgery today and may be sidelined for up to three months. He picked up the injury after going on as a second-half substitute for Andy Powell during Wales' 19-12 defeat against New Zealand in Cardiff on Saturday.

Despite Wales having three more Tests this month - Millennium Stadium appointments with Samoa, Argentina and Australia - head coach Warren Gatland will not summon a squad replacement for 42 times-capped Jones.

He follows his Scarlets colleague, wing Mark Jones, out of the November series. Jones suffered a knee injury during training before the All Blacks clash, and he will not play again until next year.

"Dafydd sprung his A/C joint on Saturday," said Wales team physiotherapist Mark Davies. "The severity of the injury has led to him undergoing a repair this afternoon. The prospects for recovery are good, and we would anticipate him returning to play early in the new year."

  • England have called up Gloucester prop Paul Doran-Jones as cover for David Wilson, who suffered a shoulder injury during Saturday's 18-9 defeat to Australia.

Doran-Jones, a former school-mate of James Haskell, has played just 266 minutes in the Guinness Premiership following a summer move to Kingsholm from Championship club London Welsh. But England's propping cupboard is virtually bare following injuries to senior trio Phil Vickery, Julian White and Andrew Sheridan.

Doran-Jones, 24, can play on both sides of the scrum. With Wilson, the Bath tighthead, still undergoing medical assessments, England manager Martin Johnson has delayed the team announcement for the Argentina game until Wednesday.

  • Leicester winger Lucas Amorosino is a major doubt for Argentina ahead of this weekend's showdown with England on Saturday.

Amorosino damaged his calf in the Tigers' 28-17 Anglo-Welsh Cup defeat at Leeds on Sunday - his second game in just three days after helping Leicester beat South Africa on Friday night. The 24-year-old, who moved to Welford Road after playing for the Pumas against England in June, is undergoing scans on the injury this afternoon. Argentina are already without key men Juan Martin Hernandez and Felipe Contepomi plus the Harlequins winger Gonzalo Camacho for Saturday's Twickenham appointment.

Head coach Santiago Phelan said: "We have a lot of injuries to very important players in the team. It is not good for us to be without Juan Martin and Felipe but we have been working with other players. Like always when you have injuries this is a good opportunity for other players coming up.

Argentina and England drew their summer Test series 1-1, with the Pumas bouncing back from a defeat at Old Trafford to win in Salta. "In June we didn't start well in Manchester. But we did well in Salta and finished the tour playing very well against the French Barbarians. Our goal is to continue what we did in June and our goal is to keep growing as a team and to get to the World Cup as well prepared as possible and this tour is an important part of that."

The Pumas will be making a personal appearance at the Rugby Store at Twickenham Stadium on November 12 from 2pm-4.30pm.

  • Leeds Carnegie have received mixed news on the injury front for two of the first team squad.

Hooker Rob Rawlinson saw a specialist on Friday and has been given the all clear of any serious injury to his neck. He should be able to return to full training in two to three weeks time but will be monitored nearer the time to make sure that he is recovering at the same rate.

Scrum-half Joe Bedford has undergone surgery on his ankle ligament injury but will be out of action for up to three months. Commenting on the news Director of Rugby Andy Key said, "Joe's operation went really well and it is just a question now of him rehabilitating the ankle and getting back fit again. The news on Rob is good and hopefully he will be back in contention in the build up to our next phase of European games."
