1935
Wales claimed a thrilling 13-12 victory over the All Blacks thanks a late try from winger Geoffrey Rees Jones. What was even more remarkable about Wales' win was that they finished with just 14 men on the field because hooker Don Tarr was stretchered off after suffering a broken neck.

The original All Blacks bounced back from the disappointment of losing the first Test against Wales with a 9-0 win over Glamorgan in Swansea. With the wind at their backs, New Zealand led at half time through George Smith's try, Alan McDonald and Billy Wallace finishing the job late in the second half after Glamorgan had failed to convert their pressure into points.

Jack Morkel's four-point drop goal earned the Second Springboks a fortuitous 7-6 victory over Cardiff at the Arms Park.

1983
Treorchy prop Chris Jones was banned for five years after being sent off for fighting by international referee Clive Norling during his club's Schweppes Cup tie against Cardiff. He had only just returned from a 28-week ban for the same offence. He rather unconvincingly claimed he had been deliberately provoked by the Cardiff players. "They obviously knew my weakness was my temper and decided to exploit it by challenging me."

1949
Future British & Irish Lions great Peter Jackson played a starring role in the Army's 20-3 victory over the Territorial Army at Franklin's Gardens in Northampton. It was the first time that the fixture had been played in 11 years.

1963
New Zealand recorded their first ever win over Wales in Cardiff, defeating their hosts 6-0 in a game played in bitterly cold conditions. The All Blacks' only previous win on Welsh soil, in 1924, had come in Swansea. A penalty from Don Clarke and a Bruce Watt drop goal secured the win.
