Wales centre Andrew Bishop has agreed a new long-term deal with the Ospreys.

The 23-year-old midfielder has signed a four-year contract at the Liberty Stadium, a two year extension on his existing agreement.

Capped 11 times by Wales since his debut on tour to South Africa in 2008, he has made 127 appearances for the Ospreys. Head coach Sean Holley praised Bishop's contribution to their defensive game.

"I'm absolutely delighted" he said. "He can play at 12 or 13 and as we all know, has one of the best defensive games around. He helps run our defensive system and I'm just delighted that this news means that he will continue to be associated with this region."

Bishop was thrilled with the deal and believes that the young talent developing at the region will help the Magners League champions to kick on.

"To be offered a contract at a club like this at any stage of your career is an honour, and when you see the ambition here and the young talent coming through, it's pretty much a no-brainer really," he said. "The decision is a very straight forward one. I got it signed as soon as I could.

"To get a four year deal is great, it shows that the coaches here rate me as a player and as a person, and it really gives me a lot of confidence to be able push my game on again after the progress I've made so far."
