Complacency will not be something that Wales boss Warren Gatland will have to concern himself with ahead of Friday's meeting with Fiji in Cardiff. Indeed, there are just too many players within the current Welsh squad who know only too well how dangerous it is to underestimate the Fijians.

At the 2007 World Cup, Wales and Fiji met in the final round of pool matches, with both sides knowing that a victory would earn them a place in the quarter-finals. Wales had won their six previous meetings with the Islanders, a run stretching back to 1985, and seemingly had little to fear from a talented but erratic side.

However, they adopted a cavalier approach, thus playing into Fijian hands, and it was the underdogs who prevailed, with a last-gasp try from Graham Dewes securing them a famous 38-34 victory.

It was a hugely significant result, as it earned Fiji a place in the last eight of the World Cup for the first time in 20 years and also ultimately cost the then Wales boss Gareth Jenkins his job.

Wales have come along way in the interim under Gatland but he will be nonetheless wary of a side that specialises in the unexpected.
