Shane Williams is set to end his career with the Ospreys after confirming that he will ink a new contract with the region.

The 34-year-old Wales winger, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury, was the subject of interest from French clubs but has opted to re-sign for a further two years rather than follow team-mates James Hook and Lee Byrne to the Top 14.

"I'm going to finish my career in Wales by signing a new two-year contract with the Ospreys that will be the last I sign as a player, unless something extraordinary happens," he told The Western Mail.

"I never really wanted to follow the likes of Hook, Byrne and Gavin Henson by going out there. Staying at the Ospreys was always my preferred option. Well, I have sat down with the senior people there and agreed terms, and I'm chuffed to bits."

Williams is set to draw a line under his Test career following this year's Rugby World Cup, although senior figures within the Wales setup are keen to see the wing, who has scored 53 tries in 79 Tests, change his mind.
