Ospreys and former Wales winger Shane Williams is set to announce his retirement from rugby at the end of this season, according to reports.

The legendary Welsh flyer took his final bow for the Test side against Australia back in December in a game which brought down the curtain on an illustrious career with Wales that incorporated 87 caps and 58 tries. And following that decision, Williams admitted he was pondering playing on for one more year with the Ospreys.

But it seems that he has now opted to pursue a coaching career and has already held discussions with the Ospreys backroom staff over a potential transition into that field of the game, according to BBC Sport.

The former IRB Player of the Year has played 136 times for the Ospreys and has crossed the line 54 times since his move to the newly formed region back in 2003. Prior to the move to regional rugby in Wales, Williams turned out for Neath where he was similarly prolific.

And later on Wednesday, a Ospreys spokesperson refused to comment on the rumours saying: "We never comment on contractual matters."
