Dragons fly-half Jason Tovey has revealed the reasons behind his switch to PRO12 rivals the Cardiff Blues.

The 22-year-old will turn out for the Blues next term and claims that he hopes his international aspirations will improve at Cardiff rather than at his current region.

And Tovey has also cited the Blues' facilities as another reason behind his move. "It's all different things, the type of players they've got there [at the Blues], they play a different game to us and the facilities are top," Tovey told BBC Sport Wales. "So I'll be looking to improve with facilities like that.

"Hopefully with the facilities I can kick on and improve as a player, improve the weaknesses in my game - maybe my defence, maybe my kicking as well. Hopefully that'll push me to get Welsh credit."

Dragons' coach Darren Edwards remained quiet on Tovey's imminent departure - unlike the Dragons' attitude over Aled Brew's exit from Rodney Parade - but claims he has a long-term strategy at the Newport side. Edwards said: "It would be frustrating but we've also got a strategy as well so maybe there's a grand plan."
