Former Wales wing Shane Williams could turn his back on retirement in order to take up a contract in Japan.

According to BBC Sport, the 35-year-old is considering a lucrative deal with Japanese second division side Mitsubishi Dynaboars, based in Sagamihara.

Williams turned out for the Barbarians two weeks ago, against Wales, in his final match, having helped the Ospreys to the RaboDirect PRO12 title with a brace of tries against Leinster in his last regional appearance.

A British & Irish Lion in 2005 and 2009, Williams signed off from the Test stage with a last-gasp try against Australia in December 2012 - taking his record tally for Wales to 58 from 87 caps.

First capped in 2000, Williams overcame fears about his size to become one of the world game's most effective wide men, playing at three Rugby World Cups.

In 2008 he was named International Rugby Board (IRB) World Player of the Year following his exploits in Wales' run to a Six Nations Grand Slam, his second.
