Wales centre Jamie Roberts will step up his preparation for a busy autumn international series by making his first start in six months on Saturday.

The 25-year-old British & Irish Lions international, who underwent surgery on a knee injury in April, appeared off the bench during the Blues' RaboDirect PRO12 victory over the Dragons last weekend and having come through his 33 minute cameo unscathed he has been promoted to the starting line-up for the clash with Treviso at Cardiff Arms Park.

"It's great to have players like Jamie back," said Blues director of rugby Phil Davies whose side are looking for their third win of the campaign and back-to-back PRO12 wins for the first time since February.

Wales are set to tackle Argentina, Samoa, New Zealand and Australia later this year and Roberts' international team-mates Alex Cuthbert, Sam Warburton, Bradley Davies and Lloyd Williams also start this weekend, while Jason Tovey is named among the replacements. But another, fullback Leigh Halfpenny, is still out with an ankle injury.

"Last weekend we had a good, gusty win against the Dragons at Rodney Parade," added Davies. "It is never an easy place to go to and their home crowd really got behind the Men of Gwent and made some noise. It was a bit of a scrappy game as Welsh derbies can be but I thought many of our players acquitted themselves well.

"We know Treviso will be a difficult team to beat. They are very physical, especially up front, and have a good set piece as they showed against the Ospreys."
