Wales face an anxious wait over the fitness of Ryan Jones after the flanker was sent home from Poland with a shoulder injury.

Wales are currently in Spala on a training camp ahead of the autumn internationals which start against Argentina on November 10. Interim boss Rob Howley will hope to have the Ospreys back-rower available for selection with first-choice blindside Dan Lydiate sidelined through injury.

Jones will now undergo scans on the shoulder and he will remain part of the Wales squad with Howley opting against drafting in a replacement.

A Welsh Rugby Union spokesman said of the injury: "Ryan Jones returned home from the Wales national squad training camp in Spala this morning (Wednesday) in order to undergo scans on an irritable shoulder.

"The decision to send Jones home at this time is based on a preference for the facilities available in Wales to accommodate the necessary investigations and give the player the most optimal management plan for his injury.

"Jones remains a full member of the squad and further details of his problem and any repercussions for selection, if at all, will become apparent once the proper investigations have been undertaken."
