Cardiff Blues target new fly-half

Cardiff Blues coach Phil Davies has admitted he is keen on recruiting a new fly-half and back before the start of the 2013-14 RaboDirect PRO12 campaign.

Davies oversaw the Blues' 21-17 triumph over the Worcester Warriors at the weekend and also witnessed Rhys Patchell miss five penalties. But Davies insists his desire for a new No.10 is not due to misgivings over Patchell's ability but more a wish to add depth to his half-back options following Jason Tovey's departure to the Dragons.

"We do need a couple more bodies in the group," Davies told Wales Online. "We've 43 players, but we're looking to try and bring players in between the ages of 26 and 29. That's the age profile we've identified. We're looking at back-three and half-back is another."
