Wales flanker Jonathan Thomas has been handed the Worcester Warriors captaincy for the 2013-14 campaign.

Thomas, who has 67 caps for Wales, made the switch from the Ospreys to Worcester over the summer and captained the Warriors against his former team at the weekend. He has clearly made an immediate impact at Sixways and Worcester, who will be under new coach Dean Ryan's guidance this season, will be led out by Thomas this term.

Ryan paid tribute to his new skipper, saying: "Jonathan has been an asset to Warriors since he joined us in the summer, both in his performances on the pitch and also in the qualities he demonstrates off the pitch. He's a strong leader who understands the game and his past experience with Wales and Ospreys will be important in building the future here at Sixways."
