Scott Williams is unlikely to play again this season after undergoing major shoulder surgery as a result of the injury he sustained tackling Brian O'Driscoll during Wales' defeat in Dublin.

He has been told he will need to take three months out to recover and is aiming to be fit in time for Wales' summer tour of South Africa.

"I can't see him playing again for the Scarlets this season," the club's head coach Simon Easterby told the South Wales Evening Post. "He's had a fairly extensive operation.

"He'll be frustrated; he would have wanted to continue for Wales during the Six Nations and for us for the rest of the season. But Wales go to South Africa in the summer and that might still be an option for him."
