Warren Gatland has confirmed that Leigh Halfpenny will miss the remainder of the season after dislocating his right shoulder during Sunday's 29-18 loss to England.

The Wales fullback scored all of his side's points from the tee, but had to be substituted late on after preventing Luther Burrell from scoring a try.

"Leigh has dislocated his shoulder. That's his season over," said Gatland.

Wales No.8 Taulupe Faletau added: "Leigh has been crucial to Wales' performances over the years, and he is going to be a big loss, definitely," Faletau said. "Leigh kicked well today, and going in at half-time five points down, we would have taken that score after the opening we had."

Scarlets back Liam Williams will be favourite to replace Halfpenny for next Saturday's game against Scotland in Cardiff. Scrum-half Rhys Webb also went off injured, suffering what appeared to be an ankle injury, but there was no immediate fitness update on him.
