Wales are trying to add an extra match against a provincial side to their two-Test tour of South Africa this June to give more players a chance of playing.

Warren Gatland said an extra game - likely to be against Southern Kings at Port Elizabeth - would ensure "everyone's a part of the tour … [it's] a really tough tour and we're hoping to take a slightly bigger squad.

"We know how tough a place South Africa is to tour so we've got to have the planning underway. We're trying to manage the players in terms of a lot of them will potentially be finished quite early in May, so it's about giving them a bit of rest time and hopefully get them back into conditioning for the hard grounds in South Africa."

Wales, who are already likely to be without the injured Leigh Halfpenny and Sam Warburton, face a tough ask against a side they have beaten once in 27 outings.
